Introduction:
Are you a golfer living in Stockport looking to be expertly custom fitted for golf irons? You have come to the right place! Whether you are a complete beginner or low handicap golfer, we have PGA trained professionals to guide you through the process of purchasing the correct clubs. In this article, we will identify each process of an iron fitting so you can gather a clear picture of the session before it has even taken place!
Why get Custom Fitted for Golf Irons in Stockport?
- We are very highly populated with golf courses and well known retailers, which really creates a competitive market. We aim to stand out above the rest!
- Amongst the many PGA professionals in Stockport, we regularly network with each other. Although we are competitive, we all get along and want the best for one another. This allows us to learn from each other. A great area to be a PGA professional!
- Every mainstream brand is stocked in the area, which allows each PGA professional to offer more choices.
- A PGA Professional is highly trained for this service, unlike many mainstream retailers.
The Custom Fitting Process (all done with a 7 iron):
- Length of club: Your height obviously plays a significant role in the ideal length of your clubs. Every length will also alter the ‘lie angle’.
- Lie angle: The most important part. Our Foresight GCQuad machine can very quickly identify your lie angle with absolute precision. Too ‘upright’ results in shots to the left, too ‘flat’ results in shots to the right. The correct lie angle also promotes more centred strikes on the clubface.
- Shaft flex: An easy one. Your ‘Clubhead Speed’ in mph determines your shaft flex.
- Shaft model: Dependant upon spin rates, launch angles and carry distances, the shaft model of choice will vary with these results. Again, simple for us to calculate.
- Head model: Determined by strike patterns on the clubface and strike patterns into the turf. The more central you strike the ball, the thinner the head you may want. The opposite for regular miss-strikes.
- Grip: Grip size is mainly determined by hand size, but also preference of how they feel. Arthritis and injuries help determine this too.

Conclusion
Stockport offers not only a choice of many brands, but many highly trained PGA Professionals at the golf courses. Choosing a mainstream retailer may not be as wise. They have sales targets and high staff turn over. We are trained for one purpose, to improve your golf!
